REACH is a non-profit organization committed to improving the lives of children and families affected by Hirschsprung disease by increasing awareness, promoting education, connecting families and supporting various research around the world.
A little goes a long way. With donations, we aim to:
-Improve the quality of life for children with Hirschsprung disease and their families
-Educate patients, families and providers
-Promote and support research into causes and treatments for Hirschsprung disease
In 2020 we launched the Hirschsprung Patient Passport and the REACH traveling fellow program. Although our 8th Annual Symposium has been postponed due to Covid-19. In its place, we are launching our first REACH on-line Forum to be held on September 25, 2020.
REACH recently awarded a 5th research grant. This year the winner was Dr. Ruth Lewit, a research fellow in Dr. Ash Gosain’s lab at the University of Tennessee. This year there were 10 grant submissions from all over the world on a wide range of valuable topics from some of the best labs and minds in the field. The winner proposes to create a new scoring system for Hirschsprung Associated Enterocolitis (HAEC) with the assistance of a new fecal biomarker.
